Research over the past two decades has shown that quality health care requires attention to difference in culture the “integrated pattern of human behavior that includes thoughts communications, actions, customs, beliefs, values and institutions of a racial, ethnic, religious or social group.
CRR is one of the nation’s foremost providers of culturally competent behavioral healthcare services. Increasing organizational and clinical cultural competence as an approach to eliminating racial and ethnic health disparities have been identified as key goals in the Center for Rapid Recovery’s strategic goal plan.
Our cultural competence philosophy is based on the belief that there are ethnically and culturally-determined differences in the perception of how problems are identified experienced and solved. There are several definitions to define what cultural competence is. Cultural competence is not an event but rather a set of congruent practice skills, attitudes, polices and structures, which come together in a system, agency, or among professional to work effectively in the context of cultural differences. CRR views cultural competency as a tool to improve quality of care and to reduce disparities in utilization of procedures, health outcomes and quality of care across racial and ethnic populations.
CRR is dedicated to ensuring services are clinically and culturally appropriate. Our President & Chief Executive Officer is a national Cultural Competence Leadership Fellow who provides comprehensive workforce training to CRR’s employees, and other community based organizations.
