The Training and Research Institute for Cultural Competence (TRICC) is a subsidiary corporation of the Center for Rapid Recovery (CRR). TRICC offers education and training to health & behavioral healthcare practitioners to enable individuals, organizations and other providers to deliver the highest quality of care to every patient, regardless of race, ethnicity, cultural background, or "English" proficiency.

Increasing organizational, structural, and clinical culutral competence, as an approach to eliminating racial and ethnic health disparities have been identified as key goals in the strategic goal plan of TRICC.  Our ultimate goal is to

foster an organizational climate and operational structure that supports, enhances and maintains the growth of cultural competence in healthcare.

Culturally competent care becomes possible only with the skillful management of the relationship between cultural based practice and organized medicine which make up a medical encounter at the points of access. Cultural competence training therefore is a workforce imperative; it must include introductory level through advance level understanding of the dynamic interplay between culture, health behaviors and health outcomes.

Comprehensive and ongoing training is developed based on scientific research and commonly accepted principles of cultural competence. Introductory thru advance level training is designed to sensitize, enhance awareness, and increase the skills of participants who work with poor, uninsured, undocumented, low income, and a wide range of other special needs or vulnerable populations and provides practical applications that target change on both an individual and system level.

A broad based training curricula is utilized and form a framework within which practitioners both obtain and understand clinical information.
